Roger Becker, P.E., S.E.
Company: Spancrete Inc.
Location: Waukesha, Wisc.
Position: Vice President – Precast Division

Roger has over 35 years of experience. In addition to leading the precast division of the firm for the past six years, Roger has served as the vice president of engineering and development for Spancrete for over three years. He was also a consulting structural engineer for over 26 years. Roger has been involved with projects ranging from the design and engineering of multistory residential facilities to parking structures. He is experienced in the design of precast concrete, post-tensioned concrete, cast-in-place concrete, masonry, and steel structures. Roger is also the coauthor of the PCI second-edition Manual for the Design of Hollow Core Slabs. He is a registered structural engineer in Illinois and a registered professional engineer in Wisconsin and Ohio.

Doug Widener, LEED AP

Position: Executive Director – Chicago Chapter

In Doug’s current role as executive director, he is responsible for managing the affairs of the local chapter, including formulation of new policies in concert with the Board of Directors, daily implementation of chapter programs, events and initiatives, and oversight of financial planning and budgets.  Prior to coming to the USGBC, Doug served as vice president of education at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum of the Chicago Academy of Sciences.


David P. Nasser, P.E.
Company: The Consulting Engineers Group Inc.
Location: San Antonio, Tex.
Position: Vice President – Texas office, CEG Board Member.

David has 14 years' experience in the design of various types of precast concrete structures, including parking structures, prison facilities, and sports facilities. He is active on the PCI Technical Committee and is the chapter-chairperson of the PCI Connections Committee. His contributions to PCI publications include the “Problems and Solutions” section of the PCI Journal, and the PCI Connections Manual, first edition. Mr. Nasser is a registered professional engineer in five states.

Drew Ranieri, AIA

Position: Associate Principal

Drew is an architect with thirty years of experience with a wide range of building types and scales both nationally and internationally. Currently he practices design at Solomon Cordwell Buenz which is an award winning architecture, interior design and planning firm. Drew has previously worked internationally with Mario Botta Architects, in Chicago for Murphy /Jahn as well as Krueck + Sexton and for eight years at his own firm in Chicago. He is a past-president of the Chicago Architectural Club and a founder of the architectural education program at Chicago’s Marwen Foundation.

Josephine Minutillo is a senior editor at Architectural Record magazine.
Prior to joining Record, she wrote about design and architecture for many international publications and practiced architecture in New York City.

Position: President

Walter is the president of Kurtz Associates Architects. His firm specializes in retail, mixed-use, commercial, and single-family residential projects. He was recently elected to serve as the vice-president of the American Institute of Architects. As vice-president, Hainsfurther is leading the institute’s knowledge and sustainability efforts. Prior to this, he served on the AIA’s Board of Directors. He previously served as the president of AIA Illinois.

Randy is an architect and has been serving the architectural profession and the design-build industry in Canada, in the United States, and internationally in various leadership capacities. Randy's career includes a wide range of professional experience in private and public sectors in the United States, Canada, Asia, and India. His previously held positions include founder and chairman of the Canadian Design-Build Institute, chairman of the Design-Build Group of the American Institute of Architects, and OAA Representative on the University of Toronto Architecture Faculty Council. He also has been published in many design and construction journals in Canada and the United States.

Ted Herr, AIA, CSI, CDT

Location: Chicago, Ill.
Position: Director of Technical Services

Ted has over 40 years of experience in the field of architecture. His current responsibilities at Eckenhoff Sauders Architects include preparing technical specifications, managing projects of various scale, and overseeing quality control. Prior to his work with ESA, Ted was an associate with Jack Train Associates, where he was a construction manager. Prior to that, he was a project manager with Dubin, Dubin, and Moutoussamy. Ted has also served on the AIA Chicago committee to review Chicago Building Code revisions.

Jim Guarre
Company: BergerABAM Inc.
Location: Washington State
Position: Senior Vice President

Jim has been practicing bridge engineering with BergerABAM Inc. for over 30 years. He has been an active member of the PCI Bridge Committee since 1984. Jim and BergerABAM received the PCI State-of-the-Art Award for their work on precast, prestressed concrete horizontally curved bridge beams.  Jim also received the Lyman Medal for coauthoring a paper on the precast, prestressed concrete Getty Center Guideway. He is a licensed civil and structural engineer in Washington, California, and Nevada and a registered professional engineer in several other states.

Myint Lwin, P.E., S.E.
Company: Federal Highway Administration
Location: Washington, D.C.
Position: Director of the FHWA Office of Bridge Technology

At the FHWA, Myint is responsible for setting polices and direction for the national highway bridge program, management of the national bridge inventory and inspection standards, and advancing bridge technologies while partnering with AASHTO, industry members, and academia. He has written avidly on the subject of self-consolidating concrete and is a member of many vital industry committees. He is a registered professional engineer in civil and structural engineering in the state of Washington.

Mark Richardson, P.E.
Company: New Hampshire Department of Transportation
Location: New Hampshire
Position: Administrator of the Department of Transportation Bridge Design Bureau

Mark currently manages a staff of 20 structural engineers and 12 others in related roles for the in-house design and review of consultant design bridge projects. In 1992 he began work in the NHDOT Right-of-Way Bureau, becoming Administrator in 1994. In 1986 he was selected to be part of the CAD/D evaluation and implementation team for the NHDOT's first CAD/D system. Prior to that, Mark worked with the NHDOT Bridge Design Bureau for 8½-years during which he obtained his professional engineering license. Earlier, He enlisted with the Maine Air National Guard 265th Combat Communications Squadron after completing High School - served 6 years during and after college. Mark currently serves as member of AASHTO and other technical committees in addition to his work at the NHDOT.
